A police officer whose identity is yet to be known was shot dead  at about 6:10pm on Sunday in Eke Oko, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State.

It was learnt that the victim was riding on his motorcycle when he was intercepted along the road and shot dead.

As at the time of this report, his corpse was still lying down along the road as road users scampered for safety following gunshot sound.

Aguata, the local government area of the Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has come under serious attack by unknown gunmen after the Governor declared war on them.

However, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Tochukwu Ikenga could not be reached for his reaction to the story as his mobile line was unreachable.

Meanwhile, a serving member of Anambra state House of Assembly Dr Okechukwu Okoye has allegedly been kidnapped.

The lawmaker popularly known as Okey Di Okay was said to have been  kidnapped almost same time it was reported that a police officer was shot dead in the same council area of Aguata LGA.

Hon Okoye is representing Aguata North, same community as Soludo in the State Assembly.

Though details of his kidnap is still sketchy, it was learnt that the lawmaker was whisked away from his black Sienna car within his Constituency.

His vehicle was seen abandoned on the road in a viral video of the incident circulated by a sympathiser but the whereabouts of the lawmaker remained unknown by press time.
