Panic as another petrol tanker falls in Anambra

There waa panic among.residents of Zik Avenue Awka, the Anambra state.capital Saturday morning when  a anker ladden with Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) fell into a ditch spillimg its content. 

 A fuel tanker fell in a similar manner earlier in the week at Abba junction along the Enugu-Onitsha expressway but recorded no casualty.

Saturday incident caused pandemonium as residents  snd mototists scampered for safety while some others were seen scooping the fuel.

A statement by the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Haruna Mohammed, called on residents to stay away from the area to prevent any form of disaster.

Meanwhile, Police patrol teams have cordoned off the area and prevented people from further scooping while Fire Service Department has been contacted to be on standby in order to prevent fire incident.
