The Peoples Democratic Party women leader who was burnt alive in the November 16 Kogi governorship election bloody fallout, Acheju Salome Abuh, has been buried.

Acheju was buried in her village, Aji-Obala, in Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State.

She was buried amidst tears and eulogy from notable PDP figures at a funeral ceremony held at the United Evangelical Church, Idah on Saturday.

The Officiating Minister, Rev. John Adino, enjoined Christians to give their lives to Jesus Christ, saying death could come at any time, adding that how people die does not matter, but it is always good for people to die in the cause of the Lord.

In his tribute, husband of the deceased, Elder Simeon Abuh, said the late Acheju had paid a supreme price for Igala land through politics, describing her as a “martyr whose political sagacity will remain fresh in the mind of her political associates.”

He called on the federal government to ensure that the perpetrators of her murder are arrested and brought to book.

Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the last Kogi governorship election, Mr. Musa Wada, said Mrs. Salome Abuh died for Kogi State and the Igala nation, noting that he had set out to emancipate the people of the state “from the hands of oppressors.”

Also speaking , the only son of the deceased, David Abuh, described their mother as “a lover of people who invested much in assisting the needy ones in the society.”

He called on the federal government to ensure that justice is done over the killing of their mother.
