Benue Gov escapes death as gunmen attack convoy

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State on Saturday escaped death by whiskers as gunmen suspected to be bandits attacked his convoy.

The incident happened at Tyo Mu along Makurdi/Gboko road around noon.

It was gathered that the Governor was on his way to Makurdi when the gunmen opened fire on his convoy but were repelled by his security men.M

Press Secretary to the governor, Mr Terver Akase, said the gunmen opened fire on the governor’s convoy while traveling on the road.

He added that the governor escaped narrowly.
