Gunmen have reportedly attacked Odoro Ikpe Police Station in Ini LGA of Akwa Ibom State, killing six officers on duty.

The police station was reportedly invaded on Saturday morning as six officers were gunned down while others were injured.

When contacted, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, SP Odiko S. Ogbeche confirmed the incident.

Ogbeche however, was unable to give details of the incident, stating that the Commissioner of Police was already at the scene for an on-the-spot assessment.

He said the level of casualty would be unveiled after the assessment.

Meanwhile, this is coming seven days after armed men suspected to be members of the Eastern Security Network (ESN) invaded a police station at Ibiaku Ntok Okpo in the Ikono Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, killing two police officers.

In the May 1 attack, a female police officer was injured while five vehicles belonging to the station were set ablaze.
