Former Enugu SSG, Dan Agbo, is dead

LThe Amechi Awkunanaw Community in Enugu South Local Government Area of Enugu state has announced the demise of a former Secretary to the old Enugu state Government, Chief Dan Agbo after a brie of illness. 

The top colonial trained civil servant popularly known by his crowned Chieftaincy title or Omeluora, served the old Anambra and Enugu state in different capacities successfully and was said to have lived well, aged well and left positive footprints in the sand of time. 

A public announcement in his demise signed by President General of Amechi Development Union and a former Commissioner in Enugu state, Mr. John Egbo said Chief Agbo passed on late Tuesday night at his Amechi Awkunanaw country home.

The statement reads: “On behalf of the good people of Amechi Awkunanaw Community, I wish to inform the general public of the passing of a great son of the community and Enugu State, Chief D.E.N. AGBO, OMERUOHA OF NKANU LAND on Tuesday night being 26th October, 2021 in his country home, Amechi Awkunanaw. 

“Being one of the top colonial trained civil servants of the good old days, he held the following positions:

Former Principal Secretary (Civil Service equivalent of Chief Staff) to the former Governor of old Anambra state Sen. Jim Nwobodo; Former SSG of old Enugu State under former Governor, H.E. Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo; Former Head of Service old Enugu State; Former Permanent Secretary, old Anambra State; Former Sole Administrator, old Awgu Local Government; Former Sole Administrator, old Abakiliki Local Government, and Community leader par excellence. 

“He was an ebullient as he was erudite, eloquent, and a penmaster at the same time.

"God gave us the gift of life; it is up to us to give ourselves the gift of living well.” 

“Omeruoha lived well, aged well and left positive footprints in the sand of time. May God continue to elongate the lives of those he left behind, his wife, Ezinne Mrs Kate Agbo, Children and grand children as we mourn this great Iroko of our time.”

While praying God to grant Chief Agbo's soul rest in the bosom of the Almighty God, Egbo, who was a retired Deputy Sheriff in the United States, said the burial date would be announced by the family later.
